Book Description:

Julia Taylor works as a recruitment consultant for Paranormal Personnel in London. Her days at work seem normal, she sees clients that regularly are looking for work, she source new vacancies, updates CV and visits employers.

Everything is pretty ordinary for her, apart from the fact that Julia is half elf and Paranormal Personnel is not an ordinary agency at all because all jobless supernatural creatures come to the agency to look for work. Fairies, vampires, witches, hags, wizards, mermaids, elves, giants and trolls, they all need to find employment and during this economic climate this seems pretty challenging.

Julia doesn't want her life to be complicated but when her day is interrupted by the shape shifter with the chain saw; she just has to deal with him as she always does. She is normally calm, confident and is not afraid to stand up for herself but when the meeting with Nathaniel's Corporation goes not as well as she expected she wants to bury herself under the ground and die.

Then Mr. La Caz gets under her skin, lights up a fire inside her, she accidently reads his thoughts and learns that he craves for her, he wants to suck her dry but she is convinced that he is not even a vampire.

Excerpt:

Right, let's get this show on the road.

I straightened my posture and looked around the room. The werewolf who let us in pointed out two chairs in front of us. It was a decent sized room, still white with large glass windows that were looking over at the whole industrial park. We had to be near the top floor, but I wasn't sure because I wasn't paying much attention to Todd when he was pressing the button in the lift. In the middle of the room was a large table. Two other vampires were in the room. We sat opposite them. Once I finally controlled my breathing, I took a closer look at the creatures in front of me. All of them were watching me-not Jennifer, but me.

'My name is Carter. I work with Mr La Caz here and Mr Porter,' introduced Carter, smiling lazily. He was completely bald and tanned. My eyes moved to Mr Porter; he was short and chubby, not like any vampire would look like. He had to be in his fifties.

I could deal with him; he looked like my grandfather.

When I finally looked at La Caz, my heart made a giant thump. His hazel eyes were focused on me and this was the most intense look anyone ever gave me. For several seconds, I thought I stopped breathing because those eyes were like the shade of moss in the autumn. He wasn't blinking; he was just watching me, and I felt as if he were stripping me, leaving me completely vulnerable, feeling my tension and uneasiness. I couldn't break the eye contact even if I tried. I parted my lips and inhaled. Apart from these unbelievable eyes, La Caz had sandy hair, a long face, and he wasn't pale at all. He looked young and unlike any vampire I had ever seen. He had to be in his mid-twenties; he was dressed in a black well-fitted suit, white shirt, and black tie. He hadn't moved once and I found myself blushing.

What the fuck is wrong with you? Slap yourself if you have to!

'My name is Jennifer and this is Julia; she is our senior consultant.'

My Review:

I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Julia is half-human/half-fairy who works at the Paranormal Personnel agency. The Paranormal Personnel agency is like an unemployment office where you go look for a job. Employers call in looking to hire say a tooth fairy and Julia places an add on their site implementing that a job for a tooth fairy is available. Then she waits for someone to apply for the job so she can then set them up for an interview.

In Julia's world all paranormal creatures and humans all live together peaceably. Most humans know about the paranormal creatures but not all. Julia's mother doesn't know that she is half-fairy or that her father is a fairy either. Julia found out that she was a fairy when she was like fourteen years old.

Julia has an ex-boyfriend whom she broke up with about a year ago but he still follows her around at times. Jasper was a controlling freak and believes that Julia will come back to him one day. Julia's best friend Ella doesn't like him. Ella is a human and doesn't know that Julia is half-fairy or that Jasper is a wizard. Julia has never told her thinking that she was either better off not knowing or she thinks Ella probably couldn't handle knowing that paranormal creatures exist.

Nathaniel La Caz is a half-vampire/half-human; a Dhampir. He was born a vampire not made or turned into a vampire; he can go out in the daylight. Mr. La Caz runs and owns La Caz Corporation; where they make vampire medication. Mr. La Caz is a player; he doesn't date or have relationships. He will go out with a different girl every night. All he wants is a friend with benefits. All he wants from a woman is a good roll in the hay and a meal; meaning he only wants her for sex, a one night stand and to drink her blood. Mr. La Caz always gets what he wants and is used to getting his way because he always has before. Well with one exception to this fact is when he meets Julia; he wants her body and her blood. Julia's blood is very intoxicating to vampires. Fairies and Elf's have to use a spell around vampires or they may just drain them of their blood.

While Mr. La Caz doesn't do relationships bur Julia does and she tells Mr. La Caz that he is not going to use her for sex and a meal. If he wants her he will have to do the dating thing. Mr. La Caz meets Julia through the Paranormal Personnel office where Julia works. Mr. La Caz needs more employees for his Corporation and he needs them fast.

I have really and truly loved reading Joanna Mazurkiewicz's £6.19 per Witching Hour; the blurb does not give it justice. I really loved the fact that all paranormal creatures and humans have learned to live together and get along well most of them anyway. Do I recommend £6.19 per Witching Hour? Yes, I definitely do. I think the Paranormal Personnel Sage is going to be out of this world.
